Ask a young traveller to book their next trip to Europe as a guided tour and many will say you couldn’t pay them enough to miss out on a gorgeous day at the beach because the itinerary says it’s time to visit a museum.
But what if you asked those travellers if they'd like the time and cost effectiveness benefits of a guided tour and the flexibility of solo travel in a single package?
Contiki, one of the world’s leading youth travel companies, has done just that and – based on the “yes please” response – created more than 26 new and improved summer trips for young adventurers, including new Independent Insider tours.
The all-new travel style comes with all the benefits of a Contiki guided trip: “think friendships, a Trip Manager with ultimate local knowledge and the ease of having all travel and accommodation planned for you. But with no structured itineraries, and multiple start and end destinations on each trip, Independent Insider has been designed for ultimate freedom and flexibility.”
This new independent travel style will allow travellers to curate three- to 12-night itineraries that reflect their passions and personal travel preferences. As an added bonus, Contiki is offering a 10% discount for those who book and pay before 29 January 2018, and an additional 5% if you mix and match different itineraries.
Itineraries are based in some of Europe’s trendiest summer locations including Nice, Copenhagen, Budapest, Mykonos, Amalfi Coast and Porto. You’ll spend at least three nights in each – enough time to delve into each city, tick off those bucket list items, and still have some free time to explore, meet locals and stumble upon hidden gems.
Each trip also offers multiple “free-time add ons” designed around millennials' cultural passions: a Vespa tour in Rome, a patisserie tour in Paris or a cocktail mixology class in Amsterdam.
If you’re a foodie, the news gets better: Contiki has joined forces with an “authentic social eating experience” company, VizEat. VizEat makes it possible for travellers to dine and socialise in the homes of trusted locals – an experience you might not get on your own.
“Europe was the birthplace of Contiki, and remains a leading destination for young adventurers,” says Kelly Jackson, General Manager for Contiki in South Africa. “By developing over 26 new and improved itineraries for 2018 we are demonstrating not only our commitment to the destination, but also to our consumers. No matter what type of traveller you might be, if you're 18 to 35 years old, Contiki has a trip for you in Europe.”
