Keen to attend the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar? It just got easier

South Africans who are keen to visit Qatar no longer need a visa, according to Home Affairs Minister, Aaron Motsoaledi — good news for soccer fans who are planning travel to the FIFA World Cup host country in 2022.

The announcement comes after Home Affairs waived visa requirements for seven countries during the Budget Vote speech in July 2019 (four of which can travel to South Africa visa free from August 15).

“We took this decision unilaterally but we are engaging these countries to see how they can relax entry requirements for our citizens,” Motsoaledi adds.

Meanwhile, the department will implement visa waivers for Ghana, Cuba and Principe and Sao Tome after negotiations with these countries have been concluded, according to eTNW.
