Ras Al Khaimah is home to the United Arab Emirates’ highest peak, Jebel Jais, which crowns the rugged Hajar Mountains, the highest mountain range in the eastern part of the Arabian Peninsula.
On Jebel Jais mountain you’ll find Jais Flight, the world's longest zipline (certified by Guinness World Records), which offers adventure-seekers the chance to fly across 2,83km at hair-raising speeds of up to 150 kmph.
Archaeologists have found evidence of human settlement in Ras Al Khaimah dating back 7 000 years ago, making it one of the oldest continuously inhabited places in the world.
Ras Al Khaimah has around 1,000 archaeological sites, many of which have been added to the UNESCO Tentative List for World Heritage.
The emirate is home to the only hilltop fort still in existence in the UAE, Dhayah Fort, a 19th century mud brick fort built on much older structures.
Ras Al Khaimah has 64 kilometres of unspoilt coastline, dotted along which you will find some of the most beautiful beaches in the UAE.
Ras Al Khaimah boasts a varying natural landscape, from rolling sand dunes to aquamarine coastlines, salt flats, mangroves, mountains and sulphur springs. Thee natural landscapes are home to wildlife such as foxes, jerboas and hundreds of bird species.
Ras Al Khaimah’s pearl industry dates back to the 12th century. Visitors today can get a glimpse of this history at Suwaidi Pearl Farm, located on a floating pontoon offshore of the region’s oldest pearl fishing village, Al Rams.
One of the city’s highlights is Al Marjan Island, a man-made archipelago with stunning beaches and luxury resorts.
